Great day at Children's Hospital!!

On Wednesday the 15th, Logan had 2 appointments at Children's Hospital. He had a swallow study and follow up with the cardiologist.

First was the swallow study. (We were hopeful that he would be able to be ready to not have to thicken his bottles anymore!) They got him all set up in the little chair (that he looked absolutely HUGE in now, compared to his first swallow study when he was not even a week old!) and started him on non-thickened barium to see how he would do. He ate a few ounces and they saw no problems!! So we were given the OK to stop thickening his bottles! This was so exciting!!

Next was the appointment with the cardiologist. We wanted him to been seen just to check on the issue(s) that they found when he was in the hospital. Dr. Singh listened to his heart, and said he sounded fine, and he didn't hear the valve making any noise that it sholuldn't be. He said he didn't think we needed to do any other tests. He explained to us, again, what a bicuspid aortic valve is, and said he should be just fine. He said we don't have to worry about him doing sports or anything like that, if he ever has a problem with it, it probably won't be until he is way older. But he wants us to bring him back in a year to just to check him out again. We were really worried about this appointment, and were so thrilled when everything went perfectly!!

So (as long as all goes well, and nothing else pops up) we won't have to go back to Children's for a year!!! Hooray!!! We are done with swallow studies, hearing tests, hip ultrasounds.....and maybe even done with the pulmonologist (unless he has any breathing problems this winter). We'll have to see the cardiologist yearly (most likely) but that may be it!

There was a time when I wasn't sure he was going to be able to be a normal little boy, and that we would be in and out of doctors offices and hospitals all his life. But life is looking a whole lot better! =)
