On Wednesday the 15th, Logan had 2 appointments at Children's Hospital. He had a swallow study and follow up with the cardiologist.
First was the swallow study. (We were hopeful that he would be able to be ready to not have to thicken his bottles anymore!) They got him all set up in the little chair (that he looked absolutely HUGE in now, compared to his first swallow study when he was not even a week old!) and started him on non-thickened barium to see how he would do. He ate a few ounces and they saw no problems!! So we were given the OK to stop thickening his bottles! This was so exciting!!
Next was the appointment with the cardiologist. We wanted him to been seen just to check on the issue(s) that they found when he was in the hospital. Dr. Singh listened to his heart, and said he sounded fine, and he didn't hear the valve making any noise that it sholuldn't be. He said he didn't think we needed to do any other tests. He explained to us, again, what a bicuspid aortic valve is, and said he should be just fine. He said we don't have to worry about him doing sports or anything like that, if he ever has a problem with it, it probably won't be until he is way older. But he wants us to bring him back in a year to just to check him out again. We were really worried about this appointment, and were so thrilled when everything went perfectly!!
So (as long as all goes well, and nothing else pops up) we won't have to go back to Children's for a year!!! Hooray!!! We are done with swallow studies, hearing tests, hip ultrasounds.....and maybe even done with the pulmonologist (unless he has any breathing problems this winter). We'll have to see the cardiologist yearly (most likely) but that may be it!
There was a time when I wasn't sure he was going to be able to be a normal little boy, and that we would be in and out of doctors offices and hospitals all his life. But life is looking a whole lot better! =)

Melody has started Middle School
I can't belive it, but Melody started Middle School this week!! We went to orientation last week, and got to walk around, meet her teachers and get to know the school. She was really excited! Tuesday was the first day, and she was a little nervous (I think I was more nervous then her!!) but everything went great! I was so worried she would get lost, but she didn't. She has the same teacher for Communications and Math, and then another teacher for each Social Studies and Science. So she gets to move to other rooms for different classes now.
She also gets to start band this year! =) She REALLY wanted to play drums/percussion, but the school dumb rule that you have to have 2 years of piano lessons to play percussion. So she decided to play the saxophone. (The band teacher told her if she does well and tries really hard with the saxophone, then he will think about letting her switch to percussion....let's hope so!!) She finally got her saxophone yesterday and was super excited to show Adam and I how to put it together, and all the things she learned in class that day. I think she is really going to like it! =)
It is so hard to believe that she is getting this old. Before I know it she will be driving....and graduating!!! =`(
(We had to take her "first day of school" picture inside this year =( It was so windy outside, I think we would have got blown away!! =) )
